Obituary of Patricia Carter

Patricia T. Carter (Deegan), January 18, 2022.  Predeceased by her son, Daniel and her great-grandchildren Skyler Fustaino and George Miller.  She leaves her children Timothy (JoAnn), Jeannine (Timothy) Collins and Kathleen Rebban (Michael Degus). Her grandchildren William, Matthew, Kevin and Kelley Deegan, Maggie (Jesse Cervini) Deegan, Kathleen (Todd) Miller, Colleen (Chris) Baker, Molly (Seth) Boynton and Alysse (Russell) Fustaino and great-grandchildren, Rhett Fustaino, Cannon Deegan, Elliott and Amelia Miller.

Our mother permanently moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida in 1991 and volunteered with the Cocoa Village Playhouse for many years. Prior to moving, she enjoyed a successful career as a realtor with Nothnagle Gallery of Homes (now Howard Hanna).  She was an active member of the South Wedge Planning Committee, many neighborhood endeavors, and the revitalization of the area; for these efforts, Pat received a proclamation from the mayor of Rochester.

Growing up, she moved many times with her parents between Rochester, Connecticut and then back to Rochester.  She always told her children that she hated to move around so much. Thankfully, after a brief time in Elmira, where our sister Jeannine was born (and received the moniker “The Queen of Elmira”), we all grew up in one place - a home on Linden Street.  When Mom moved to Florida, that changed again.  She loved the growth that was happening in Brevard County at the time.  She ended up building  three houses and moved a total of six times! Our mother's house always was impeccably decorated.  She loved going to the arts and craft shows that were year-round in Florida. At one point, Jeannine, Kate and JoAnn counted the artwork on her walls and there had to be over 200 pieces.

Although Pat grew up with German customs, when she married our father, Bill Deegan, she embraced the Irish culture and music. When she was in Rochester, Caverly’s Irish Pub was always the one stop she had to make.  Three and a half years ago, she still liked to go to Nolan’s Irish Pub in Cocoa Beach to hear Irish music.

We will miss you Mom, Grandma Pat, in so many ways. Look after Dan, Skyler and George for us! We love you!

Services will be in Rochester, NY in February.  Burial will be private.
