Obituary of Beverley Kay Lewis

On February 10, 2022, Beverley Lewis passed away peacefully at Holmes Regional from her long battle with kidney disease following admittance to Hospice, with family members at her bedside.

Beverley was born in Columbus, Ohio. She was the youngest of three children to Myron and Maggie (Houck) Clark  She attended Barrett Jr High and South High School. During her summer vacations she attended Camp Mary Orton where she made many fond memories and met her best friend, Lily. She gained the nickname “Slick” after sliding in the mud there. During high school she worked at Laff’s Cafe. A favorite hang out for Barrett and South High kids. Then later as a single mom of 2, while her kids were young, she was a teacher’s aide at Reeb Ave. She went on to take key punch classes and got a job at the DCSC. Her brother, Johnny, introduced Bev to her husband, at the bowling alley, where he and Ken both worked. Swan Lanes was one of her favorite hang outs, as she was an excellent bowler. They married and had two more children. She had a job as a supply clerk at Rickenbacker, where she worked for over ten years as a civil servant. They moved to Satellite Beach, Fl in 1987, where she got a job at DEOMI on Patrick Air Force Base. She loved working there as the librarian and finally retired on her 70th birthday, following many accolades for a job well done. She and Ken were married 50 years.

Bev enjoyed bowling, Bingo, playing the Lottery, reading, movies, shows and all types of games, especially cards. Ken considered her an excellent cook. She loved having family get togethers with a big meal. She especially loved Thanksgiving and Christmas. Many family members looked forward to her Thanksgiving stuffing. Family get togethers always included everyone around the table playing a competitive game of Spoons, Farkle, Racko, Hand & Foot, Arizona Rummy or some type of cards. She was very generous with her time and money.

She is survived by her husband, Ken, best friend Lily Keinzle, sister Marilyn Beach, and children Donna (John) Griffin, Tony (Kathy) Smalley, Nicky (Steve) Sherbin and Jason (Emma) Lewis, with many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
