Obituary of William Thomas Yearty

William Thomas Yearty of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida passed away May 29, 2022.

 

Tom was born March 11, 1934 in Macon, Georgia to Emmett Franklin and Minnie Boyd Yearty.   A graduate of Lanier High School in Macon, Georgia and Georgia Tech, Tom married Juliette Anderson in 1957.  He earned his Masters in Contract Management at FIT.

 

He began his career as an Air Force pilot.  Tom worked for 28 years as a Civil Service Contracting Officer at Warner Robins AFB and Patrick AFB, retiring as the Deputy Director of Procurement for the Eastern Test Range.  He enjoyed his favorite hobby, flying small planes, by giving flying lessons at FIT and Patrick AFB Aero Club.

 

Tom loved spending time with his family. While raising their 3 children, he enjoyed coaching sports, boating and the local outdoors.  He taught the kids important life skills like how to cast a fishing line and change a tire. Tom could fix or build anything and was an excellent storyteller.

 

Tom was a charter member of the Satellite Beach United Methodist Church and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.  He is survived by his wife, Juliette, of 65 years; children, Lisa (Tom) Langdon, Bill (Bonnie) Yearty, and Andy (Jaydee) Yearty; grandchildren, Amy (Craig) Mycoskie, Tommy Yearty, Richie (Ana)  Pierce and Erin (Tim) Straub; great grandchildren, Taylor Mycoskie; Isaac, Rowan and Ivy Pierce and Lincoln Straub.  He was predeceased by his parents, sister Alice Parker, brother James Yearty and favorite pup, Pepe Yearty.

 

A celebration of his life will be held at Beachside Funeral Home on Friday June 3rd with visitation at 2:00 and the service at 3:00.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at the Satellite Beach United Methodist Church or the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Charity Inc./Pet Posse.
