Obituary of Janice J Whitney

Janice (Jan) Whitney, 80, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at her home in Satellite Beach, Florida. “Jan,” the oldest of five, was born in Detroit, MI to Marshall and Barbara Johns. The family moved to Liverpool, NY in the early 1960s where she met her eventual husband and life-long travel companion, Don Whitney. Soon after earning an Associate Degree at Cazenovia College, Jan and Don married. This began a life of travel as the wife of an Air Force Pilot, and later in life when they both retired. Guam, Alabama, Japan, California, Illinois, Virginia, Mississippi, Hawaii were among the places they lived before settling in the Space Coast. Once she settled in Florida, and emptied the nest of her three sons, Jan earned her real estate license and began selling homes – becoming a million-dollar seller for Coldwell Banker Realty and managing the Melbourne office.

Jan is survived by her husband Don, her three sons and their spouses: Brad (Jill), Dean (Julie), and Todd (Heidi), and by her seven grandchildren. She also leaves her four siblings and their spouses: Marsha (John) Charles, Bud (Marlene) Johns, Gary (Debbie) Johns and Cheryl (John) Potts. Jan’s engaging personality and infectious laugh will be missed by family, friends, and all the people she would always stop and talk with in random situations.
