James Marshall Ferguson, Jr Obituary

 

James Marshall Ferguson, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many passed away in Satellite Beach, Florida on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the age of 82.  He fought a valiant and brave battle against two blood cancers for two years.

Jim was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina and graduated from North Carolina State University in 1963.  He entered the Air Force and served until retirement in 1985 at which time he continued in the space industry by working for contractor companies until retirement in 2006.

He loved his family, golf, friends and the outdoors, and even climbed Colorado’s Pikes Peak many times.  Jim and his wife, Jeanne, traveled extensively both with grandchildren doing “grandparent trips” and a travel group with whom they traveled for over 20 years.

Jim was a true Southern Gentleman who never complained throughout his illness.  He was kind, thoughtful to all, and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jeanne Ferguson, four children James Neil (Robin) Ferguson, Edith Lynn (David) Tom, Kimberley Ferguson (Jose) Calvino and Todd Marshall Ferguson.  Also survived by grandchildren, James Ryne Ferguson, Samantha Lynn Tom, Clinton Reid (Alexa) Ferguson, Jennifer Elizabeth (Brandon) Ledene, Avery Leigh Ferguson, and Nathan Owen Calvino.  Also survived by brothers Richard Bryan (Linda) Ferguson and William Henry (Gayle) Ferguson.  Stepchildren Tracy Jo (Michael) Jandebeur and Chad Alan (Kristy) Townsend, Step-grandchildren Thomas Lee Jandebeur, Hayden Ryan Townsend, Maddox Alan Townsend and Anna Marie Townsend.

Jim’s services will be held at Beach Funeral Home, 1689 South Patrick Drive, Satellite Beach, FL 32937 on Saturday, March 18, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or Vitas Hospice.
