Obituary of Eugene Mohesky

Eugene (Gene) Vernon Mohesky Sr. passed away on May 24, 2023, at the age of 92, while in the care of Vitas Hospice.  

He was preceded by his wife Barbara Oakes Mohesky, two brothers and two sisters. His wife Barbara died in 1990 and he remarried in 1997 to Lauralie Swaw (1999).

He is survived by his children, Deborah Loer of Lynchburg, Va, Vern Mohesky of Palm Bay, Fl., Edward Mohesky of Rockledge, Fl. and Sharon Smith of Melbourne, Fl.  He had six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a lot of friends.

Gene was born November 23, 1930, in Owensville, Missouri. He went to the catholic primary school and graduated from Owensville High School. After high school he worked at the local Kroger store before joining the Marine Corps.  After his military service he moved to Lynchburg, Virginia where he met his wife, Barbara and raised four children. He owned a grocery store, Mohesky’s Market and later had two restaurants both named the Candlelite Restaurant.  In 1975 they moved to Indialantic, Florida, he worked as a meat cutter at IGA and eventually went to work at Patrick Air Force Base and retired as a manager in 1993.

A Mass will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Indialantic, Fl.  on June 5, 2023, at 11:00 am with visitation before at 10:30 am.
