Obituary of Robert Eldridge Black

Robert E. Black beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on July 12, 2023. He was 76 years old. Robert “Bob” was predeceased by his parents Doris and Eldridge Black of Vero Beach, Florida and his brother Michael Black.

Bob’s life was well lived. He served in the U.S. Army and owned golf and tennis stores, but his passion was his work as an educator and advocate for children.  Bob started his career as a teacher and retired as Director of Special Education in Omro, Wisconsin.  Bob moved to Florida after his retirement and still wanting to work with children became a guidance counselor at Central Middle School in Melbourne, Florida.

Bob had a unique set of interests and friends.  He loved reading, enduro bike racing and attended super cross motorcycle events whenever possible. He was funny, sarcastic and loved music especially the lyrics of John Prine.. 

Bob’s greatest passion was for his wife Susan who survives him along with his sons Robert Black Jr., Brian Black, daughter Kimberly Blais, stepdaughter Amanda Johnson McAnea, granddaughter Kari Satterfield, grandson Dylan McAnea,and great grandson Jameson Satterfield and their beloved Cairn Terrier, Bonnie.
