Obituary of Francis Desales Carney

Francis DeSales “Frank” Carney of Satellite Beach, Florida, formerly  of Cumberland, Maryland passed away peacefully after a brief illness on August 21^st at Viera Hospital, Florida.

Frank leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Roberta (Rossi) Carney; his children, Bryan (Anne) of St Michaels, Maryland, Pam Kauffman (Kevin) of Culpeper, Virginia, and Galen Carney of Cumberland; his step children, Linda Kuhl (Donnie) and Mary Galanty, all of Winter Springs, Florida.

Frank’s additional legacy is grandchildren, Kendall and Paige Carney, Kaity Pat Kauffman, Gavin Malone Carney, Christopher, Michael and Daniel Kuhl, David and Tori Galanty, as well as three beloved great-grandchildren, Addison and Finley Smith and Colton Galanty.

Frank was preceded in death by his 1^st wife of 30 years, Patricia Ann (Malone) Carney; his granddaughters, Alexis Kauffman Smith, Cathy Beaudoin and Christopher Hughes.

Frank was born in Cumberland Maryland on February 4, 1939 to Eugene and Theresa Powers Carney. He was a 1958 graduate of LaSalle High School. Frank enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served honorably aboard the destroyer USS Haynesworth based in Norfolk, Virginia.

Frank went on to a 30 year career with the Kelly Springfield Tire Company in both Cumberland, Maryland and Gadsden, Alabama. His life was driven by devotion to his family and service to the community. Frank held positions of leadership as past Grand Knight of Cumberland Knights of Columbus, order of the Alabama, the Pineda Ocean Club Community and a 20 year Association with the American Legion Post 200 to name just a few.

Frank was proud of his heritage to County Roscommon, Ireland and traced his lineage to the American Revolution and the founding family of Frostburg, Maryland.

Frank loved Christmas, birthdays, and celebrations of every type, especially with dear and devoted friends Fred and Debbie Schwecke.

Frank will be greatly missed for his many special sayings, memories, personality and wisdom.

Visitation will be held at Beach Funeral Home, 1689 S. Patrick Drive, Indian Harbour Beach, Florida on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 1:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 2:00 pm. Followed by   a repaste at the American Legion, 105 Ocean Blvd, Satellite Beach.

There also will be a memorial service in Cumberland, Maryland at a later date.
