Obituary of Robert Hopewell

Robert (Bob) Hopewell was born on October 06, 1931 in Jamesville, NC and passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Robert was the second eldest child of 7 Siblings, Hilda, Thomas, Janice, Jim (Woody), Kay & Ray(Twins). He is survived by his two children Douglas and Scott Hopewell and two siblings Kay Beach and Jim Hopewell.

As a young boy Bob worked a hard life as a sharecropper farming tobacco and cotton with his parents and siblings.

After graduating Highschool Bob enlisted in the US Marines for 2 years then transitioned to the U. S. Air Force, where he served honorably for 27 years and retired in 1979.

After retirement the family moved from Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts, to Indian Harbor Beach, Florida. Bob’s retirement didn’t last long. He started bagging groceries at Patrick Air Force Base Commissary in 1981 were he continued to work for 42 years until his passing. During those 42 years Robert found a 2^nd family and became a staple and example for all employee and shoppers. Bob was known by all as “Mr. Bob”, “The Legend” and Bagger #20.

Bob had many hobbies such as reading, traveling, music and bowling. He became a very good at cooking and enjoyed making elaborate meals from scratch and sharing with all his friends and coworkers. Bob was avid bowler for nearly 50 years and was eventually inducted into the United States Bowling Congress Hall of Fame.

Bob was also a man of God who attended church regularly at Prince of Peace located in Viera, Florida.
