Obituary of Nancy Ann Ambrose

It is with both sadness and joy that we announce that Nancy Ambrose passed away peacefully and rejoined her husband and second eldest son John on January 22, 2024.  Born in Marion, Ohio (1939), she and her brother Richard were raised by their parents Frank and Ruth Heckman. After a year at Marquette University, Nancy transferred to and graduated from Mary Manse College (1961). Upon graduation, she became an elementary school teacher and later married George Ambrose on June 3, 1967.  They were blessed with three children – Glenn, John and Katherine – all raised just south of Miami, Florida.  When the children became school age, she returned to teaching first as a substitute and then full-time instructor at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Catholic Parish in the Archdiocese of Miami. There she taught 1^st grade until she and George retired and eventually moved to Melbourne, FL.   A member of the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Community, both she and George sang in the choir and were actively engaged in several ministries.

Following in her mother’s footsteps, Nancy was a pianist and organist. She enjoyed travelling - planning and embarking on several extended summer trips with the whole family. A devoted mother, she loved watching sports and was always present at her children’s baseball and softball games. She also saw just about every college bowl game and many of her grandchild’s live streamed high school basketball with Glenn and Katheirne at her side these past two months.

Nancy is survived by her children, Katherine, Glenn (and Adrienne) and two grandchildren – Parker (23) and Perry (17).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 3050 N Highway A1A, Indiatlantic, FL on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 3050 N Highway A1A, Indiatlantic, FL.   Visitation at the church from 10:30am until the time of the service at 11:00am. Interment immediately following the service at Holy Name of Jesus Ccatholic Church Garden.
