During the “Cold War”, he was on a flight team that flew the B-58 Hustler, which was the first bomber capable of obtaining Mach II speed. He also served with NATO while in the Air Force where he was instrumental in analyzing and developing war game scenarios. After he retired from the Air Force he flew 747’s for Polar Air Cargo.
Wendell was a driving force in the Kairos Prison Ministry helping to establish the ministry at the Central Florida prison. He also spent many afternoons at the Dock Outreach Center (a safe haven for children).
He said he was preparing for his death for his entire life and was a very spiritual man. He loved his family and was a wonderful example of how to be a man.
