I am saddened by the loss of Jim. He was a mentor of mine when I was assigned to D Troop, 3/8 Cav in Finthen, Germany in the late 1970's. I was a young Army Scout Pilot then and Jim taught me a host of things...many of which had nothing to do with flying the helicopter. He always lived life to the fullest.

To the family and friends of James A. (Smokey) Rohrer: It was with great sadness I received the news about "Smokey's" passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. I was with DynCorp International (DI) for only a short period while serving in New Mexico; however, the first time I visited DI in Satellite Beach, "Smokey" instantantly became my hero. His professionalism and "Smokey" wit (a special and talented characteristic of Smokey's) immediately caught my attention and I developed a fondness for him that will never be broken. Just knowing his spirit will remain up and down the hallways and in the offices, hangars and auditoriums of DynCorp lightens my sadness at loosing such a dear friend. May God Bless and Strengthen each of you. Sincerely; Ron Fitzpatrick Albuquerque, New Mexico

My deepest sympathy to the Rohrer family. I had the pleasure and honor of working with Smokey on and off during the last 11+ years. I wish I could be there but I am currently stationed in Bolivia with DynCorp.

April, My deepest sympathy to you and the entire family. Smokey was a great guy. I worked with him several years ago when I too worked for Dyn on the INL contract at PSD. As others have said, he truly was one of the good guys. He will be missed, but everyone who ever worked with or for Smokey is the better for it. I know I am. He loved his family and his country and I know Heaven has a special place for folks like him. I pray for God's Blessing for you and the family during this sad time, but I'm sure Smokey's request would be 'When you think of me, Think of Happy Times'. God Bless You. Billy Miller Orlando

April, My deepest sympathy to you and the family ... Smokey was one of the good guys ... during our INL days we worked very close, be it at Patrick or downrange ... with our boys both going to MCC we spent time together at the school watching the teams play and chatting on the sidelines and then finally running into you guys at HNJ ... I'll miss him ... he was always a gentlemen and a quite pro at the job ... I mentioned to a couple old INLer's today when I head the news about Smokey that with Dick Dunwoody passing away in Dec, Dick now had his wingman in heaven with Smokey. Best always ... Tim Crawley
