Obituary of James P. Habovick

James P Habovick, Sr. "Hap" 76, of Satellite Beach died on Wednesday, July 20th, 2011 at William Childs Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer. Hap was born in Pittsburgh, PA; a dedicated family man, a great husband, father and a man of honor. The family moved to Brevard County in 1972. He was a veteran of the USAF (RET) with 23 years of dedicated service. Hap loved his community and was extremely active in many aspects. He was instrumental in establishing the Mets Girls Softball team resulting in them winning State and Nationals three times. Hap was the Fire Marshall for both Satellite Beach from 1982- 1997 and Indian Harbour Beach, retiring in 2010. He is survived by his wife of eighteen years, Tracy; children, Tammye Jean Harris; and James Habovick, Jr.; grandchildren, Chris and Ashlyn Harris; Corey, Kyle, and Cassidy Habovick; his extended family, daughters, Michelle and Tammy Suzanne Malpas; and grandchildren, Lauren and Logan. Hap is preceded in death by his first wife, Claire in 1991. A gathering of friends will be Sunday evening, July 24th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM wake service at Beach Funeral Home on South Patrick Drive. Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be 11:00 AM on Monday, July 25th, at Holy Name of Jesus. Entombment will follow to Florida Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Rockledge. Donations in his memory can be made to Indian Harbour Beach and Satellite Beach Fire Departments.
